Real Wedding: Nicole + Jimmy's Fairfield University and Whitby Castle Wedding

The Planning

I pretty much fell in love with Nicole and her mom, Mary Ann, the second I met them at the local Starbucks. Not only were they two of the sweetest women I’d ever met, they came to our meeting with a tabbed wedding binder full of notes and details. I joked that I just might have to hire them both to work for me!

Together they had put together a beautiful day for Nicole and her fiancé, Jimmy, and I could not have been more thrilled to join their team to manage the wedding.

The Ceremony

Nicole and Jimmy met at Fairfield University (my alma mater - go Stags!) and held their ceremony at the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola on campus. It was so special for me to be back on campus for their day. Nicole and Jimmy got special permission to take photos at Bellarmine Hall, one of the most beautiful buildings on campus and home to commencement every year.

The Reception

Whitby Castle in Rye, New York served as Nicole and Jimmy’s Reception venue. While their guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the terrance overlooking the golf course, Nicole and Jimmy took photos before sneaking up to the bridal suite with their bridal party. I loved that they wanted to back to a tradition we don’t see that much any more - not joining cocktail hour and being formally introduced as husband and wife at their reception.

Large families and lots of friends made for a packed a dance floor all night long and a couple of performances! A few weeks before the wedding day, Jimmy filled me in on a fun tradition in their family. At every wedding, the men on Jimmy’s mom’s side of the family serenade the newlyweds with a handpicked song during the reception. I caught them practicing early in the night (check my Instagram Story highlights for a video) and knew the performance would be a hit. Nicole and Jimmy’s song: You’re the One by The Vogues.

Near the end of the night, the entire reception sang “Happy Birthday” to Nicole’s cousin who would be celebrating her birthday at midnight!

Welcome to the blog!

Did you know I used to be a blogger?

Yup, back before blogs were a big thing and everyone had one, my BFF and I wrote under pseudonyms about living and working in New York City. It was kind of popular for a little while.

When I started my business, not only was I excited about the whole planning weddings thing, I couldn’t wait to get my website up and running and start blogging again. But then I did a few weddings, had my second child, did some more weddings, and well, I just never got to it.

Here I am two and half years later, finally getting to it!

What to expect on the Meghan Elizabeth Events Blog

I’ll be easing into it so plan on hearing form me every few weeks. I can’t wait to share some real weddings from 2018. There were some real heart eyes emoji ones! I’ll also be sharing some wedding tips and inspiration to help you with your planning. And, of course, information on my services and how I can help YOU! Plus maybe a little behind the scenes!

Where to find me in the meantime

My favorite social media spot right now, along with everybody else, is Instagram! You can find me @meghanelizabethevents. And there’s still good ‘ole Facebook.
